Next Generation Art Show

GET READY, GET SET, ENTER YOURSELF INTO NEXT GENERATION!!!!

The Show is TBA at the moment!

Sorry for any inconveniance.

Greetings!

The Next Generation Art Show was created to give an opportunity to Florida college art students to display their art work and gain recognition outside of their college. As art students ourselves we know how hard it can be to receive recognition outside of school. The “Next Generation” art show will be a judged show providing college art students, and recent art graduates, the chance to show in a professional setting. We hope to bring Marion County students together with neighboring counties to view and display work in a variety of media.

Location: Brick City Center for the Arts, Ocala FL

Dates: TBA

How did NGAS get started?

A discussion came up after going through a student showcase at the local community college, CFCC. Both Amelia Kaylor and Debby Miller were interns at a local art center, Brick City Center for the Arts in Ocala, Florida; the base for the Marion Cultural Alliance, Inc. (MCA). They both started working there around the time of the student showcase.

While working at the art center, where local artists show their artwork, Amelia and Debby learned how to hang and display artworks, which lead them to realize that, they too could run and operate their very first art show for other college students like themselves.

After the student showcase at the college it came up that only once a year was not enough for college students to be in the spotlight. So the planning began, with the Marion Cultural Alliance’s Executive Director, Nancy Ledding and the two students working together to learn Do’s and Don’ts of an art show.

Through this experience Amelia and Debby have learned what it takes to put a show together in an art gallery. Through planning, contacts, and many resources at their hands “the show will go on."

Next Generation would like to give MCA a big THANKS for this opportunity and for creating a work place for college students to expand their knowledge.
